my lazy reviews

Babel 3 out of 10

The Good:
1. I like movies where you have different characters who come together by a single event. It's fun to see how a something seemingly personal can effect a group of separate people.
2. It was interesting to see how screwed tourists are when something traumatic happens in a third world country. They don't know what to do because the resources they are used to having are now not available.
3. Brad Pitt does a good job with the little screen time he was and the lady who played the nanny was phenomenal. She should get an Oscar nomination for her role.

The Bad:
1. Boring boring boring
2. I don't know what the purpose of the movie was. Was it to just make you feel uncomfortable? If it was....then they do deserve an Oscar.
3. Yeah this single bullet connects these people, cool, now what message is the movie trying to make.

Scoop 4 out of 10

The Good:
1. You can always count on Woody Allen to have some good put downs. In every film I've seen him in he is always cutting someone down for being stupid or doing something stupid. His jokes are never harsh, just clever and give you a couple chuckles.
2. The ending was pretty good. Not shocking or amazing, but you're happy with what has happened.

The Bad:
1. The story is ridiculious and I know that Woody knows this. He has some fun with the idea of a dead man coming back as a ghost to get the ultimate scoop, but not enough to warrant a film about it.
2. Scarlette Johannsen. She is simply a stiff actress.
3. The pacing isn't bad, but since I didn't like the story or where it was going, it seemed to go at a snails pace. I couldn't wait for the movie's end.

World Trade Center 7 out of 10

The Good:
1. There are some scenes that are real tearjerkers. You feel the character's emotional and physical pain. The uncertainty of not knowing, but fearing the worst must have been terrible.
2. The fact that it is real and that people survived to tell the story is absolutely amazing. The story revolves around the two men trapped under the rubble, their families and the man who found them when no one else was looking.
3. The scene when the tower falls and the other unknowing explosions afterwards. The viewer is just as shocked as the character when things go from bad to worse.
4. How the screenwriter didn't opt to make the two men trapped into hero figures. They were good men, who did their jobs. Nothing exceptional, and that's what helps make the movie believable and therefore exceptional.

The Bad:
1. The movie starts off sullen and stays that way the whole way through.
2. The script could have been better. I respect the fact that they wanted to stay true to real life, but some profound/insightful words never hurt a film.
